Beautiful location. Had window seating overlooking the beach. Food and staff was great. Just remember this is not a cheap place to eat. With 2 alcohol drinks, appetizer (bowl seafood chowder), main meal(scallop pasta, desert (chocolate torte) budget 100 person. You would have to go to Halifax for this nice of food.
We literally stumbled onto the Pictou Lodge while looking for a place to eat. It was beautiful, with old log buildings and a great beach setting. When I entered I realized that this used to be one of the resorts built by CN Rail when they were trying to build up tourism. It was so nice that I'm planning on coming back for a stay. Oh, and the lunch was delicious... a huge lobster roll with lots of lobster. Yum.
Had a nice stay for two nights in the upper part of a chalet. as a side note should you be going to one, call dibs on the loft. The bedroom up there is quite large with a king sized bed, a decent sized bathroom with a shower stall. The 2 lower bedrooms area bit small with one small bathroom for them. Our beds were made in the morning but none of the handful of dishes had been looked after, including the coffee pot. The reason for going away for a couple of nights is to give me a change from the day to day routine, disappointing. The food was very good bar the halibut I had for dinner the first night. Bland would be the best word for it, poor fish had had no helpful flavour whatsoever. Breakfasts were great, supper in the pub lovely, a really nice room.
Just a beautiful property. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very spacious with a nice sitting area. The best was the views, every turn off the head was more beautiful than the last. The restaurant food was out of this world and the bartender was great over on the bar side. I can't wait to come back.
The views are fantastic and the place is nice, cabins are nicely outfitted. I would have enjoyed my stay significantly more save for two challenges. I intended to do some work while the kids were sleeping but the WiFi is horrendous. Second we were in the lower level of a split cottage and the noise from upstairs just from walking or taking the stairs was unbelievable. If you book a suite do not take a lower level if you value your sleep.
