We stayed at the Scotsman Inn in August, initially as a stopover on our way to Cape Breton. Since our stay, all we talk about is how much we want to go back! If you are thinking of staying here, you wont be disappointed. From the moment we walked in the door of this beautiful heritage Inn and met Sandy and Cathy, we were made to feel like we were at home. The rooms are all elegant, comfortable and contain wonderful antique pieces yet have all the modern necessities you need. The libraries have a great selection of all kinds of books if you are interested in reading or just taking a quiet moment to enjoy a picture book. There is always coffee and tea available for you. The continental breakfast is by far the best we enjoyed while in Nova Scotia. Sandy greeting us in his kilt added to the Scottish flair of the Inn. The food was so fresh and included local jams and blueberries, along with breads, cereals, and yogurt. You wont leave for your day trip hungry! Our favorite moments were spent on the beautiful outside terrace enjoying Cathy and Sandys company and hearing all about their worldly travels. At the end of the day, you can relax there and enjoy time with Cathy and Sandy and other guests and share stories of your travels of the day. There is always humor with Sandy which still makes us smile. By the way, when Cathy and Sandy tell you were to go listen! We enjoyed many local off the road spots that we wouldnt have known about otherwise. In the end, our visit at the Scotsman Inn was thoroughly enjoyable and a high point of our vacation; so much so, that after our visit to Cape Breton, we returned for a night at the Scotsman instead of heading to Halifax. It was so nice to enjoy a last evening of chatting with our hosts and enjoying the effects of Nova Scotia before returning home. Cheers to you Cathy and Sandy! We will be back!! After ten days on the road finding Sandy and Cathys place was like finding an oasis. Wonderful people who know the area and all the great places at which to eat.Highest recommendation.

Great place to stay. Clean and well appointed. Good continental breakfast with a few unique items. (homemade Scottish oat cakes) Very interesting hosts.
From the moment we arrived, we felt as though we were visiting old friends. Sandy and Cathy were very knowledgeable of the area and we were never disappointed in their recommendations for food or activities. We enjoyed evenings sitting out and sharing drinks and stories with our hosts. The continental breakfast was delicious and we were pleased at the local jams, jellys, and fruit. Plus breakfast served by a Scotsman in a kilt and using fine china was an added touch. I especially enjoyed breakfast at the family table with other guests in the mornings. Hearing everyone's stories and making new acquaintances was a big part of the comfort we felt. We will be staying here again.
